Warsaw
in WINTER TIME
Tourism in Warsaw, like everywhere else, has its seasonality. The peak season is in spring and autumn – buses full of tourists from all over Poland come to Warsaw then. Surprisingly, it is quieter in the summer – foreign tourists predominate. There are the fewest tourists in the winter. If you don’t like crowds and like good promotions on accommodation prices, maybe visiting Warsaw in winter is a good idea? What to see in Warsaw in winter? The specifics of sightseeing are of course different, but after all, sightseeing is primarily about rest, about having fun. So if your goal is not to rush from one tourist attraction to another, it is worth considering coming to Warsaw off-season. Warsaw in winter also has its charm!
How to plan your trip during winter?
It is definitely a good idea to come during Christmas. Krakowskie Przedmieście, Stare Miasto, Nowy Świat are decorated with beautiful lights. Additionally, there is a Christmas market under the city wall and in the area of St. Anne’s Church right next to the Royal Castle. Merchants come from all over Poland, as well as from Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine. Mulled wine, oscypek cheese and numerous cafes and restaurants await those who are cold.
If you already know the Old Town well and are wondering what to visit in Warsaw in winter, I will answer. The next place, after the Old Town and Krakowskie Przedmieście, is Wilanów. Already at the end of October, the magnificent baroque gardens of Wilanów transform into one big feast of lights. Additionally, on weekends, films are shown in the gardens on… the palace facade! The views are simply unforgettable. When visiting Wilanów, and especially the palace interiors, we strongly suggest hiring a guide. A guided tour of Warsaw allows you to get to know the city and its historical conditions better.
Another thing worth mentioning is Warsaw restaurants. In the summer, as everywhere else, restaurants are bursting at the seams and you often have to wait a very long time for a meal. On the other hand, Warsaw is empty in the winter and we have a wider choice of restaurants, and we can also forget about having to book a table. So when asked “what to visit in Warsaw?” we can safely say that it is also worth visiting the better restaurants – after all, going to a restaurant is a pleasure and for people of all ages!
Is Warsaw slowly convincing you in the winter? Let me also mention the museums, which can finally be visited peacefully and without crowds. Museums often attract tourists in the winter with price promotions or special exhibitions. The Royal Castle, the Palace on the Island, Polin or the Warsaw Uprising Museum are places that I recommend to absolutely everyone.
So we hope that the idea “Warsaw in the winter” has convinced you. And you already know what to visit in Warsaw in the winter. We will try to convince you to another idea.
Warsaw with a tourist guide
Does it make sense to visit Warsaw with a guide? After all, it is an additional cost! Despite everything, we believe that it is worth using the services of a professional guide, even if you already know what to visit in Warsaw in winter. The guide will show you places that you would never have found without his help. He will tell you stories that will interest you. He will help you choose a good restaurant or club for an evening party. A tourist guide is a person who, by definition, knows and loves the places he shows you around very well. And since Warsaw in winter means fewer tourist groups, we can safely assume that the price of the trip will be more attractive! Visiting Warsaw with a guide makes sense and I strongly encourage you to do so. If you wish, you can contact us here.
